South African mobile phone operator Vodacom’s proposed merge with the UK’s Vodafone has been approved by South Africa’s Competition Tribunal. Vodafone will now acquire a further 15% of Vodacom from Telkom.

In the meantime Telkom will unbundle its remaining 35% shares in Vodacom to its own shareholders (ie. the public). Currently, Vodafone and Telkom hold 50% each of Vodacom. (Source: Business Day)
