The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) has decided that it would be in the interest of the communications industry to finalise the Digital Migration Policy and Frequency Band Plan before licensing any mobile TV services.
Therefore it has temporarily withdrawn an Invitation to Apply (ITA) calling for entities that were licensed to provide Individual Electronic Communications Services, Broadcasting Services and Electronic Communications Network Services to apply for frequencies to provide mobile digital video broadcasting services.
The closing date for the responses had been set for 27 February 2009.
