The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) has published draft Regulations and Code on Advertising, Infomercials and Sponsorship and invites all interested parties to submit written comments and representations in response thereto.
ICASA has the intention of repealing the 1999 regulations relating to the definition of Advertising and the Regulation of Infomercials and Programme Sponsorship in respect of broadcasting activities.
The draft Supplementary Code of Practice on Advertising, Sponsorships and other forms of Commercial Promotion for radio and television broadcasting service licensees will be submitted to the Advertising Standards Authority of South Africa for inclusion in their Code after proper consultation with the public.
Copies of the draft Regulations and Code can be obtained from the Authority’s website, which is www.icasa.org.za or can alternatively be obtained from the Authority’s library at Block D, Pin Mill Farm, 164 Katherine Street, Sandton between 10h00 and 16h00 during working days.
Interested parties have until 27 March 2009 to submit their comments.
