It may have been in second spot at the South African box office for the week of 15 to 21 August, but The Dark Knight has made R10.7m in just four weeks. The newer release, The Mummy 3, took top spot during the week in question having made R1.360 012 for that week, as opposed to The Dark Knight which took R1.326 647.
In third place was the Adam Sandler comedy, You Don’t Mess with the Zohan, followed by Hancock, which has been on release for seven weeks and accumulated a massive R15.4m.
Eddie Murphy’s new comedy Meet Dave was in fifth place. In this, its first week of release, it took R559 030.
The animated hit Kung Fu Panda was still in the top 10 for that week, having made R16.2m to date. (Figures supplied by SAFACT)
