South Africa’s longest running film festival, the Durban International Film Festival (DIFF) got underway on 23 July with the screening of the South African film Jerusalema, directed by Ralph Ziman.
DIFF has partnered with Screen Africa to present an industry workshop entitled Mobile Content and the Future, to take place on Saturday, 26 July from 12h30 to 14h30 at the BAT Centre Mission Control, Durban.
Regarded as “The Fourth Screen’ the mobile phone has emerged as a powerful new digital platform for the delivery of audiovisual content. This workshop takes a close look at the opportunities offered for content providers by this alternative form of distribution.
Speakers are Astrid Ascar – general manager, Product: DStv Mobile, and Emma Kaye of the Mobile Entertainment Forum and creator of South Africa’s first ever film festival devoted to mobile films, Mobfest. The workshop will be facilitated by Angela van Schalkwyk, publishing editor of Screen Africa.
