On 21 May, the “South Africa, your co-production partner of choice’ conference was held at the Cannes Film Festival, at the Hotel Martinez.
Organised by the National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF), the conference was held in celebration of South Africa’s 11th year at Cannes. The Department of Trade & Industry’s (DTI) Nadia Sujee spoke about financial instruments while the subject of distribution and exhibition was covered by Videovision Entertainment’s Sanjeev Singh. Adeelah Carrim of Morula Picutres presented a case study on the South Africa / Canada co-production Jozi H. Another South Africa / Canada co-production, Molo Fish, was covered by Clarence Hamilton.
DO Productions’ Brigid Olen spoke about the South Africa / UK co-production The World Unseen and David Wicht presented his co-production experience on Goodbye Bafana.
Guest Speakers at the conference were Jerome Paillard – Executive Director: Marche du Film Cannes Film Festival: Producers Network and the DTI’s director general, Tsheliso Matona. NFVF CEO Eddie Mbalo gave the closing remarks.
The South African delegation walked the red carpet at Cannes on the same day.
