The International Film Festival Rotterdam which opens 23 January, expects 2,600 film industry delegates from around the globe to attend. One of the events that runs alongside the festival is the Rotterdam Lab, the international trainee project of Rotterdam’s CineMart.
Among the fifty-three Rotterdam Lab participants this year will be two South Africans, Kgomotso Matsunyane, T.O.M Pictures and Bridget Pickering, Luna Films. The participants of the Rotterdam Lab are starting producers, who are “nominated’ by several international training bodies, festivals and funding agencies with which the CineMart has partnerships. The two South African representatives have been nominated by the National Film & Video Foundation (NFVF).
Participants will engage in panel discussions with experts from the industry on topics such as production, sales, financing, distribution, press and promotion and television. The participants take part in three afternoon sessions of “speed-dating’, during which they have time to meet personally with industry delegates and receive advice on their own projects.
