It’s encouraging to note that despite ever more frequent power outtages and increasing interest rates, the South African business sector remains upbeat. Business Day reports that according to global audit firm Grant Thronton’s 2008 International Business Report, more than 75% of privately held local businesses were optimistic about South Africa this year.
The survey was conducted among 300 businesses in South Africa that employ between 100 and 400 staff. According to the survey, South Africa remained more optimistic than the global average of 42%. The most optimistic province was Gauteng (at 85%) and the least optimistic, Western Cape (76%).
