Directors have their day

With negotiations between the striking Writers Guild of America (WGA) and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) currently on hold, Hollywood’s focus has turned to the Directors Guild of America’s (DGA) talks with the AMPTP regarding their own contract.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the DGA talks may be the first step towards Hollywood being able to get back to normal. Two days of talks held in Encino over the weekend (12 – 13 January) have already taken place and although closed to the press, it is believed that the talks went well.

Hopes are that the DGA and AMPTP will reach an agreement soon, which could pave the way for a settlement in the crippling WGA strike, which has caused havoc with film and television production in Hollywood since it began in early November.
