There is a plan in Tokyo to set up 3D cameras across the city to pinpoint terrorist suspects. According to media reports the system would be the first to instantly transform pictures into 3D. The images will be compared to those of suspects on wanted lists.
Proclaimed as the world’s most advanced system yet, Tokyo will launch research among police, companies and universities to develop the facial recognition system for the 2016 Summer Olympics, which the city is bidding to host. Under the system cameras will be placed at train stations, commercial hubs and other key points.
