Studio Briefing reports that Viacom does not intend to withdraw its $1bn lawsuit against Google for allowing copyrighted movies and TV shows to be posted on its YouTube website. This is despite Viacom’s announcement that it will install a filtering system to prevent illegal postings.
Viacom’s stance is that the new technology will have no effect on alleged past damages suffered by Viacom on YouTube and that there was no proof yet that the technology actually worked.
