Described as the “Golden Globes’ of the Ad industry, the Annual AdFocus Awards, now in their 15th year, honour creative and business excellence in the advertising industry. The SABC is a sponsor of this year’s event in association with Financial Mail.

Top traditional agencies as well as branding and design houses and media agencies are recognised for work performed over a 12 month period. This prestigious event will take place at the Sandton Convention Centre on 21 May and the theme this year is Classic Advertising.

SABC Group Marketing Director Jerry Mpufane says: “As a public broadcaster and the voice for the nation, the SABC has over the years supported events of this magnitude as a means to celebrate and showcase South African talent. Our commitment and support for AdFocus goes beyond that, as it offers us the opportunity to position the SABC favourably, as well as being an opportunity to directly interact with our key stakeholders’.

Awards to be presented include: Agency Leader of the Year, Lifetime Achievement Award and the FM’s new Broom Award for new upcoming talent in the industry.

Additional awards for 2007 are AMASA Gold Awards, Roger Garlick Award and Marketer of the Year Award.

Awards are judged by an eminent panel from within the advertising industry.
