Netflix launches Watch Now

The world’s largest online DVD rental service, Netflix, has signed deals with Universal, Sony, MGM, 20th Century Fox, Paramount, Warner Bros., New Line and Lionsgate to launch its new online movie service. Disney is not in this line-up as it has its own deal with Apple.

Subscribers can download movies from Netflix’ Watch Now, which uses a delivery system that is a cross between online streaming and downloading. Movies are downloaded to a home PC (running on Windows) over broadband connections and can be seen once only. Watch Now will launch in the US in June. (Source: imdb.com’s Studio Briefing).
