Leonardo DiCaprio received three nominations in the SAG Award nominations announced on Thursday 4 January. He was recognised for “Blood Diamond” in which he plays the lead character, for his supporting role in “The Departed” and also as a cast contributior in the latter.
Also nominated in the category of outstanding performance by a male actor was Ryan Gosling for “Half Nelson”, Peter O’Toole for “Venus”, Will Smith for “The Pursuit of Happyness” and Forest Whitaker for “The Last King of Scotland.”
Nominations in the leading actress category are Penelope Cruz for “Volver,” Judi Dench for “Notes on a Scandal,” Helen Mirren for “The Queen,” Meryl Streep for “The Devil Wears Prada” and Kate Winslet for “Little Children.”
Further cast category nominations were drawn from “Babel,” “Bobby,” “Dreamgirls” and “Little Miss Sunshine.”
In the TV categories HBO’s “The Sopranos” and the AMC miniseries “Broken Trail” featured with three nominations each.
