Winners at European Film Awards

Spanish actress Penelope Cruz won the Best Actress Award at the European Film Acadmey European Film Awards held in Warsaw, Poland on 2 December, for her role in Pedro Almadovar’s Volver. Almodovar won the Best Director award for the same film, which was the People’s Choice winner.

Best Film was the German production The Lives of Others directed by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, who also won Best Screenplay.

Cult Polish director Roman Polanski (The Pianist, Rosemary’s Baby) was the recipient of the EFA’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
