MPA’s 35th birthday

South Africa’s oldest film school, The Motion Picture Academy (MPA), also known as the Film School, celebrated its 35th birthday at an event hosted at the Ill Grande Theatre at the Monte Casino Complex in Johannesburg on 17 November.

A total of 38 awards honouring students’ work of the past year were handed out during the ceremony.

The event was organised by music industry personality James Tolmay. Awards were presented by, among others, Masepeke Sekhukhune, Head of the Newtown Film School, TV personality Rian van Heerden, actor/director Hykie Berg, and Jan du Plessis, Head of Channels at M-Net.
