ITN Source has provided footage for the new Stephen Frears’ film The Queen starring Helen Mirren who won the best actress accolade at the Venice Film Festival on Sunday night.
The film produced by British Pathe and Granada Screen features the crowd scenes at Kensington Palace and Buckingham Palace as Diana’s coffin was moved as well as shots of wreaths and flowers left at the gates of Kensington Palace.
Beatrice Okoro from ITN Source who worked on the project said: “The Queen has some of the most interesting interplay and poignant use of footage I have ever seen in a film. The way it weaves both archive footage and original footage together simultaneously makes it a fascinating film. We’re delighted we could play a part in such a fantastic movie”.
ITN Source recently supplied footage for the Superman Returns and has also supplied footage for upcoming UK films The Last King of Scotland directed by Kevin MacDonald (Touching The Void), and This is England directed by Shane Meadows (Once upon a time in the Midlands).
