In a colourful Awards Ceremony that took place on Saturday 2 September at Westgate Shopping Mall, a number of filmmakers walked away with coveted stone sculpture awards designed by Dominic Benhura. ZIFF 2006 celebrated excellence in film, with performances by Tumbuka, Zvishamiso, Rocqui and a surprise appearances by Dr. Zoba himself! Hosted by Tich Mataz and graced by a who’s who of the local entertainment scene, as well as representatives from the local diplomatic and corporate communities, the event saw hundreds of people flocking to Westgate to witness the event live. Some of the evening’s presenters included Tendai Musoni, Steve Chigorimbo, Titus Chipangura and the animated character “Sekuru”.
Seven outstanding Zimbabwean projects and personalities were honoured on the night in various categories.
