This year the Africa in Motion (AiM) film festival, which runs until 1 November in Glasgow and Edinburgh, features a photographic exhibition titled “Ways We Watch Films in Africa’.
The collection of photographs, which depict images of African cinema, is the result of a call to professional and amateur photographers to submit images of film-viewing audiences, venues and festival screenings across the continent. The best images are on display as part of the exhibition for the duration of the festival.
The winning image is from the FiSahara Festival in the Western Sahara. Other images include venues in: Kibera, Kenya; Musanze, Rwanda; Paje, Zanzibar; Johannesburg, South Africa; Sinai, Egypt; Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso; Mathare, Kenya; Accra, Ghana; and Uganda.
Additional photographs which feature in the exhibition can be viewed in an article
published by The Guardian.
