“Ayanda’ has world premiere at LA Film Festival

The South African film, Ayanda, after successfully screening at the
Cannes Film Festival in France, had its world premiere in Los Angeles on 13
June 2015. The film screened in competition at the Los Angeles Film Festival, which takes place from 10 to 18 June, and has a line-up of 74 feature films from around the world.

The film, directed by Sara Blecher, stars Fulu Mugovhani in the leading role as
21-year-old Afro-hipster Ayanda who has a talent for taking neglected pieces of
furniture and ‘bringing them back to love’.

The movie’s supporting cast includes Nigerian actor OC Ukeje, as well as South
African entertainers Jafta Mamabolo, Nthati Moshesh, Kenneth Nkosi, Sihle Xaba,
Thomas Gumede and Vanessa Cooke.

Ayanda has also been announced as the opening film at the 36th
Durban International Film Festival, taking place from 16 to 26 July this year.

The film is due to appear in local cinemas on 28 August 2015.
