SA film wins Audience Choice Award at PAFF

Thina Sobabili has won the coveted Audience Choice Award at the Pan
African Film Festival (PAFF) 2015, which took place from 5 to 16 February in Los
Angeles. This film marks the directorial debut of Ernest Nkosi and was made on a
shoestring budget. The film is screening this weekend at the fourth annual Jozi Film
Festival at Cinema Nouveau in Rosebank, Johannesburg on Saturday at 11h15 and at
The Bioscope on Sunday at 17h45.

The film is set in South Africa’s biggest township, where Thulas will do anything to
protect his sister Zanele after witnessing her abuse as a child. As a result of this, the
two have a very strained relationship. When Zanele falls for the charms of an older
man, Thulas is determined to put an end to this relationship.
