A new and revamped version of the local soapie Generations aired on
1 December following a two month production break after 16 actors resigned from
the show. The first episode garnered a viewership of 7.5 million, similar to the
previous show’s ratings, but audience numbers for the second episode dropped to
6.5 million. Though still in its early stages, the show, now named Generations
–The Legacy, has received negative feedback on social media, where fans
have expressed their disappointment.
In the interim, the show’s previous stars have caught the attention of other
broadcasters and production companies, which have approached them to work on
upcoming projects. According to City Press, free-to-air broadcaster e.tv has
approached four of the ex-Generations cast to take part in a telenova due to air in
February 2015.
In February 2015 previous cast member Seputla Sebogodi (Kenneth) will appear in
e.tv’s Rhythm City while Thato Molamu (Nicholas) will feature in
drama series, Umlilo. Atandwa Kani (Samora) is performing in a
theatre production of Sizwe Banzi Is Dead and other cast members
are reportedly working on a number of different projects and ventures.
