Net Insight announced on 2 September 2014 that its Nimbra solution has been
selected by MultiChoice to expand its existing campus network in South Africa. Net
Insight is a provider of efficient and scalable transport solutions for media, IP and
broadcast networks. The order was won in partnership with Net Insight’s partner
in Sub-Saharan Africa, GDS Technologies.
Net Insight’s Nimbra solution will help MultiChoice bring its recently established
back-up facility into full operation, making it possible for them to serve additional
areas and provide business continuity for its primary transmission site in Randburg.
The inter-campus network will be fully integrated into MultiChoice’s existing Nimbra-based network, enabling the company to connect its pay-TV operation centres to provide lossless compression when transporting high-definition television (HDTV) services in real-time.
The Nimbra solution will also address back-up challenges, disaster recovery and
business continuity, as well as the opportunity to up-scale services in different
locations in the future.
