Mzansi Magic’s extremely popular reality competition, Clash of the Choirs SA, is
gearing up for Season 2, in which choirs and choirmasters will perform songs
across a number of genres in a choral format.

Competing choirs stand to win the grand prize of R750,000 of which R250,000
will go to Siyanakekela Charity in Umlazi. Last season saw Khaya Mthethwa’s
selected 20-piece choir from KwaZulu-Natal claim the winning title.

Sponsored by Metropolitan and produced by Endemol South Africa, Clash of the
Choirs is a highlight on Mzansi Magic’s 2014 programming.

Yolisa Phahle, M-Net’s Director of Local Interest Channels said: “The combination
of showcasing South Africa’s strong choral tradition and the truly brilliant choir
masters turned Season 1 into a show-stopper and we’ve no doubt that this year
the standard will only get higher.’

Belinda Faulkner, Brand Executive for Metropolitan added: “We are elated to be
the official sponsor of the second season of Clash of the Choirs. I anticipate the
show gaining even more popularity in 2014 as auditions unearth South Africa’s
undiscovered talent. Last year, the energy of the show was palpable and this
year will be no different with auditions kicking off in provinces soon.’

Auditions will take place in Johannesburg, Durban, Bloemfontein, Mpumalanga,
Cape Town, Polokwane, and for the first time, East London.

Participating competitors, who must be 18 years or older, will face regional
auditions where they sing an acapella version of a song of their choice. From
there, choirmasters assemble their own choirs by handpicking the best singers.
Seven choirs are whittled down to three for the grand finale, after experiencing
a journey of expert coaching and guidance by each choirmaster.
Audition dates will be announced at a later date.
