AFDA, the South African School of Motion Picture Medium and Live Performance
celebrates graduating students’ final productions at the AFDA Film Festival on 22 and
23 November at Rosebank Mall’s Cinema Nouveau as well as at a Broadcast Evening
highlighting television productions at the AFDA Johannesburg Campus on 21
November.

The annual festival invites members of the public to assist in providing feedback on
final projects by participating in a post-screening response session and filling in
questionnaires, which will help determine the selection of films nominated for awards
at the black-tie ceremony on 27 November at the Johannesburg Country Club.

Garth Holmes, chairperson and co-founder of AFDA, says of the 18 films that will
feature: “Audiences can expect some dynamic works this year in diverse genres from
drama, crime-thriller, dark comedy and sci-fi.’

Holmes is grateful to industry professionals who provided guidance and advice to the
young filmmakers, saying: “Having experts in their field support the school and
provide valuable skills transfers to the next generation of South African filmmakers,
plays a vital role in developing a strong industry in this country.’

Tickets for the Broadcast Evening can be bought on the night or from AFDA
television production students at a cost of R10 per production.

Tickets to the AFDA Film Festival can be booked through AFDA or at the venue and
cost R25.
