Sales agent 6 Sales picked up South African feature film Of Good Report ahead of the movie’s premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on Friday 6 September.
Marina Fuentes, managing director of 6 Sales says: “Of Good Report is the most original film I’ve seen in the last years. The dark humour mixed with all the references to film classics will make the day for the well-versed. I am very glad it got unbanned!’
Of Good Report was prevented from opening the Durban International Film Festival earlier this year due to a refusal of classification by the South African Film and Publications Board, but has since screened in South Africa to excellent reviews after a successful appeal by the producers.
The controversial South African thriller will also screen in competition at the BFI London Film Festival in October.
Of Good Report runs as part of the Official Competition line-up of the festival, recognising inspiring, inventive and distinctive filmmaking, alongside 12 other films from celebrated directors such as Clio Barnard and Richard Ayoade.
London will be the movie’s second international outing and the European premiere for the film.
The film is directed by Jahmil X.T. Qubeka and produced by Michael Auret of Spier Films and Luzuko Dilima of The New Brighton Motion Picture Company.
6 Sales also represents Young Ones directed by Jake Paltrow and starring Michael Shannon, Nicholas Hoult, Elle Fanning and Kodi Smit-McPhee. The movie was shot earlier this year near Springbok in the Northern Cape. Young Ones was produced by Spier Films and Subotica from Ireland.
