Ad agency Ogilvy & Mather (O&M) has appointed Greg Tebbutt as group MD of its activation business, currently called OgilvyAction, to oversee a range of new developments for the division.
Tebbutt is presently a managing partner at O&M Cape Town, where he handles its biggest client, Volkswagen SA. He is also a former MD of Lowe Bull Cape Town.
Says Tebbutt, who is moving to Johannesburg to take up the new position on October 1, “Both the challenge and the opportunity are huge because there is so much going on in this space’.
O&M recently merged with specialist retail marketers G2 to add to its activation capability and the agency is also in the process of a global re-alignment which will lead to a further increase in staffing and business.
O&M South Africa CEO Abey Mokgwatsane comments: “The appointment of someone as outstandingly capable and experienced as Greg Tebbutt to this position signals our serious intent in activation to really generate growth and great offerings for our clients’.
Tebbutt first joined O&M straight out of the AAA School of Advertising in 1991 and has worked on many brands over the past two decades in several agencies. He has been at O&M CT since 2006, successfully steering the longstanding VW account, which is one of the most awarded in the country.
