Ster-Kinekor’s monthly Movie Buffs event offers those who appreciate and love the medium of film the opportunity to watch a title before its release date and engage in a discussion about the film. There is also a lucky draw during the evening and the chance to win some great prizes.
The August title is the crime thriller Now You See Mewith the pre-screening taking place at Ster-Kinekor Cavendish on Thursday 1 August from 19h30. The movie releases nationally on Friday 9 August.
Stephen “Spling’ Aspeling, who is known as one of South Africa’s most knowledgeable film reviewers, hosts the evening and will introduce the film and, following the screening, will lead an interactive discussion about the movie.
Now You See Me pits an elite FBI squad in a game of cat and mouse against “The Four Horsemen’ who are J. Daniel Atlas (Jesse Eisenberg), Henley Reeves (Isla Fisher), Jack Wilder (Dave Franco) and Merritt McKinney (Woody Harrelson), a team of the world’s greatest illusionists. “The Four Horsemen’ pull off a series of daring heists against corrupt business leaders during their performances, showering the stolen profits on their audience while staying one step ahead of the law.
The movie also stars, among others, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman and Mark Ruffalo.
The screening of Now You See Me starts promptly at 20:00 on 1 August. Standard ticket prices apply and it is advisable to book early, as seating is limited.
