Academy Award-winning actor Benecio Del Toro narrates the movie The Upsetter, which charts 70 years of Jamaican musical legend Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry’s life. Known as the “Godfather of Reggae’ and the man who mentored a young Bob Marley, Perry was called a prophet by some and a madman by others.

Perry pioneered “dub’, which is described as a darker version of reggae, and was among the first people to experiment with the studio sound, the “remix’, while he produced hits for artists such as The Clash and Paul McCartney.

The Upsetter shows from Thursday 18 April at The Bioscope Independent Cinema in Johannesburg.
