Two SA films at R3m+

Two Afrikaans-language South African films are currently on local release and both have made over R3m at the box office. After three weeks of release Klein Karoo has (46 prints) has made R3,091.574 while the musical Pretville (1 print) has been on release for 13 weeks and has amassed R3.6m.

The biggest earner over the weekend of 15 to 17 February was the umpteenth film in Bruce Willis’ phenomenally successful Die Hard franchise. A Good Day to Die Hard (85 prints) opened at the top of the box office with R2.1m.

It was followed by the animated Wreck-It Ralph (including 3D) (83 prints) which made R1.1m and Klein Karoo which made R608,767 over the weekend.

In fourth and fifth spots were Dino Time (including 3D) (49 prints) at R484,037 and new release Zero Dark Thirty (39 prints) at R465,905.

Meanwhile, after nine weeks of release, Life of Pi (including 3D) (32 prints) has made 21.1m. (Figures supplied by SAFACT)
