The African Union and West Africa’s regional block, The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) have been heavily criticised for their lack of response to the crisis in Mali.
African leaders have now made several commitments to address the situation after the recent 20 African Union Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Commitments include financial contributions to the African-led International Support Mission to Mali (AFISMA).
This week Chris Maroleng, eNCA Africa editor, speaks to Dr Adekeye Adebajo from the Centre for Conflict Resolution to establish whether this financial contribution could indicate a turning point in Africa’s efforts to resolve its own crises.
