South African industry professional Fred Ridgard, who was born on 22 June 1940, passed away suddenly on 23 January 2013.
Fred was instrumental in the advent of television broadcasting in South Africa and had a long and interesting career. He was an electronic wizard who invented and improved many products such as battery chargers, LED and solar lights.
He will be missed in the film industry. Fred introduced me to my lifelong career as a sound engineer. He had zest for life and was passionate about everything he did.
Fred was a loving husband to Sue and father to Melissa, Graig and Bronwen.
Rest in peace my cousin.
