The Department of Communications hosts the Community Television Business Model Consultation Workshop on 30 and 31 January 2013 at the Birchwood Hotel in Boksburg.
The aim of the workshop is to allow the community television broadcasting sector an opportunity to make inputs to the Draft Community Television Business Model.
The draft model is a culmination of an intensive engagement with the community television sector.
The following critical areas of the development and sustainability of the community television sector will be discussed:
- Ownership and Control
- Legal status
- Governance
- Licensing Framework
- Funding and Sustainability
- Universal Access
- Programming and Content
The outcome of the consultation workshop will assist the department to finalise the community broadcasting strategy and to determine the nature of support to be provided to the sector.
Representatives of the community television sector, provincial governments, content production sector and interested members of the public can attend the workshop.
