Award-winning director Grant De Sousa has joined Frieze Films for commercials representation. During his six-year directing career, De Sousa has built up a distinctive but varied reel.

His first advert was There’s No Going Back, an anti-Tik commercial for the Public Servants Association of South Africa (PSA), for which he won the 2007 Cannes CFP-E / Shots Young Director Award.

De Sousa won Best Overall PSA at the M-Net VUKA! Awards for Conflict Free for The African Diamond Council in 2009. This Y & R Cape Town spot won five of the eight awards in the Professional category. It also received the Creative Social Advertising Award at the Humandoc International Film Festival in Poland and was shortlisted for both a Loerie Award and The New York Festival’s United Nations Department of Public Information Award.

Grant has also directed ads such as Nissan’s Tough City, which has more than 120 000 views on YouTube, Dollar Brand with Abdullah Ibrahim for the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) and his period piece for Assupol, Old Fashioned Values, with Hugh Masekela.
