Jacaranda FM and the Ellis Park Arena are proud partners of the send-off to Los Angeles of top South African rock group The Parlotones. The group is relocating to Los Angeles in January 2013 and Jacaranda FM will be giving the public the last opportunity to see the celebrated and award winning band perform live on home ground.
“It is extremely exciting to partner with Ellis Park to bring a farewell spectacular for one of the biggest bands in the country. Jacaranda FM has supported and worked with The Parlotones on a number of projects, most recently the Purple Rhino project and we, as a radio station are so proud to see them take their career to the next level,’ says Jacaranda FM’s GM, Kevin Fine.
The move will put the band in a more accessible position to the many press conference and interviews that are demanded of a band in the United States. They will also be in a position to tour relentlessly.
“We land in Los Angeles on 15 January and immediately move into our new house. Our first show is on 17January at the Viper Room. It is an exclusive show for a few select fans and key industry players,’ says lead vocalist, Kahn Morbee. “We will then get to work on the new album with the next show being the 91X Next Big Things with The Parlotones show in San Diego hosted by 91X, one of the most important alternative radio stations in America.
“Our next stop is the Grammys, to perform at Sunset Sessions in San Francisco, VH1’s Save the Music and a 30 city tour of the US kicking off in March.’
Jacaranda FM listeners will be given a chance to witness the excitement first hand with an on-air competition throughout the week and leading up to the concert. Winners will get an opportunity to attend the concert, meet and interact with the band before they jet off as well as a chance to win The Parlotones inspired Superga sneakers.
Tickets to see The Parlotones are on sale at www.computicket.co.za and range from R300 to R800. Discount tickets for group bookings (10 or more) are available.
Ellis Park Indoor Area gates open at 3pm with opening acts, Tanya V, Ice Project and ISO performing per hour from 4pm respectively. The Parlotones will perform live on stage at 7pm.
