As at 30 December 2012, there were a number of really big earners in the Combined Top Ten at the South African box office, including Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 (59 prints), which after seven weeks of release had made a ginormous R39.4m.
Skyfall (83 prints) had been in release for five weeks by 30 December and had grossed just over R29m.
After three weeks of release The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (including 3D) (81 prints) had made R13.6m.
Rise of the Guardians (including 3D) (58 prints) on release for four weeks had made R14.5m.
Life of Pi (including 3D) (93 prints) had made R6.9m after two weeks.
Meanwhile, the South African produced, Afrikaans-language musical Pretville was rapidly approaching the R4m mark.
