South African movie exhibitor Ster-Kinekor is set to launch the newly-refurbished complex in Sterland, Pretoria on 30 November. According to a statement, Ster-Kinekor has pulled out all the stops to ensure that Sterland is at the top of its class – with state-of-the-art technology, enhanced sound equipment and contemporary facilities.
The complete refurbishment of the Sterland facility has created a lavish and comfortable cinema complex that boasts the most number of cinema seats within one single South African complex – 2,418 across 11 cinemas – the largest of which can seat 561 cinema-goers. Sterland also offers audiences enhanced sound quality for both 2D and 3D features augmenting the movie-going experience even further.
Fiaz Mahomed, CEO of Ster-Kinekor, commented: “The newly-renovated site is a tell-tale sign that not only is Ster-Kinekor committed to bringing audiences across the country a top quality cinema experience but that audiences themselves are demanding to see more movies, more often and in a great environment. Sterland has been an integral part of Pretoria’s entertainment culture since its opening in 1969. Since then, the 7 575m² building has been the subject of a number of facelifts, most notably in 1991 and 2011. It’s a treasure for the city. It’s spacious, it’s beautiful and we are confident that Sterland will quickly, and justifiably, become Gauteng’s favourite entertainment venue.’
Sterland will be celebrating both the release of new James Bond movie Skyfall and the launch of the new refurbishments on 30 November with an exclusive event and public screening of the film. Tickets are only R14 and you will include a goody bag containing an en exclusive Skyfall t-shirt and cap.
