Famed Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein (The Artist, The King’s Speech) and co-chairman of The Weinstein Company will give a keynote address at the premier content market MIPCOM on Monday 8 October in Cannes, France.
Harvey and Bob Weinstein launched The Weinstein Company (TWC), a multimedia production and distribution company, in 2005. They previously founded Miramax Films in 1979 and during their tenure at Miramax and The Weinstein Company, they have received 303 Oscar nominations and won 75 Academy Awards.
Harvey Weinstein’s keynote speech at MIPCOM this year comes on the heels of the launch of TWC’s International Television Sales Division. After many years of success with their television division, TWC continues to develop and renew many TV series including: the Emmy nominated and Peabody Award winning reality series Project Runway, spin-off series Project Runway All Stars and Project Accessory, the VH1 reality series Mob Wives, spin-off series Mob Wives Chicago and Big Ang, and the critically-acclaimed HBO comedy/crime series The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency, which also received a Peabody Award.
The company is currently in pre-production on the martial arts epic Marco Polo for Starz. During his keynote at MIPCOM, Harvey Weinstein will announce the company’s new slate of TV shows for 2013.
