In the midst of the mega Hollywood blockbusters currently on the South African circuit are two local films, Otelo Burning (4 prints) and Semi-Soet (1 print). Otelo Burning has made R211,114 after four weeks of release while Semi-Soet, after an amazing 16 weeks on circuit, has made R9.6m.
The biggest earner over the weekend of 1 to 3 June was Men in Black 3 (including 3D) which made R2.5m. Its cumulative box office after two weeks of release is R8.2m.
New release, the Charlize Theron starrer Snow White and the Huntsman (77 prints), made R2.4 over the weekend and went straight to the number two spot.
In third place was The Avengers (including 3D) (77 prints) which made R1.1m over the weekend and has a cumulative box office of R34.7m.
