Foreign sport magazine show Footballers’ Lives will explore the real-life melodrama that has become a by-product of “the beautiful game’. The 13-episode series, not to be confused with Footballers’ Wives, starts on SABC3 on Friday 27 April at 9:10pm.
Football is by far the world’s highest profile sport and public fascination in developments on and off the field can often cross the line of obsession. Fuelled by big money, ego and high expectations, major controversy has become a recurring theme in football… and the stakes are high.
Footballers’ Lives compiles a steaming cauldron of stories from the boardroom to the bedroom, detailing the unique lives led by those in the high life of the sporting elite.
The first episode will explore the highest paid players, including a full feature on Cristiano Ronaldo on and off the pitch, as well as a look at David Beckham, Petr Cech, Jose Mourinho and Jose Luis Chilavert.
The second episode will have a full feature on John Terry and a countdown of the Top 10 most popular cars for footballers to own.
Other episodes will feature football stars including Rio Ferdinand, Carlos Tevez, Emmanuel Adebayor, Frank Lampard, Ji Sung Park, Cesc Fabregas and Fernando Torres and count down the most handsome players; players of the century; controversial tweets; most profitable clubs; most beautiful WAGS (wives and girlfriends); holiday destinations for footballers; footballer career quotes; hobbies for footballers; transfer fees; the richest footballers on the planet; and tattooed footballers.
