The Durban International Film Festival (DIFF) reminds filmmakers that 15 March is the closing date for submissions into the Documentary and Short Films categories. The closing date for Fiction Features is 6 April.

DIFF is South Africa’s longest running film festival and this year runs for 12 days at the end of July. It will present over 250 screenings of current films from around the world, with strong focus on South African and African cinema.

Screenings take place throughout Durban including township areas where cinemas are non-existent. The festival also runs extensive seminar and workshop programmes to stimulate industry capacity. This includes the participation of 40 filmmakers from Africa in Talent Campus Durban, a co-operation with the Berlin Film Festival, and the Durban FilmMart, a film financing initiative in partnership with the Durban Film Office.

DIFF is organised by the Centre for Creative Arts (UKZN) and supported by the National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund (principal funder), National Film and Video Foundation and other valued funders and partners.

All submissions for DIFF 2012’s festival programme must be done via the Eventival online system. Filmmakers must create an account and follow the process to submit.
