Cartoon Network HD has become the first high definition (HD) children’s channel in Southeast Asia, after a deal with GlobeCast to deliver the channel via its capacity on the MEASAT-3 satellite.
GlobeCast is providing signal delivery from Cartoon Network in Hong Kong. The channel’s feed is fibered to GlobeCast’s Hong Kong teleport for uplink onto GlobeCast’s multiplex on MEASAT-3 DVB-S2 platform.
Yew Weng Soo, Senior Vice President of Sales for GlobeCast Asia, said, “GlobeCast is proud to be the service provider for Cartoon Network HD, the first-of-its-kind HD programming for kids in Southeast Asia.”
“Cartoon Network HD offers the world’s most popular animated series, such as ‘The Amazing World of Gumball’ and ‘Ben 10,’ in brilliant color, sound, and clarity,” said Eric Lai, Vice President of Technology and Operations for Turner Broadcasting System Asia Pacific, Inc. “We’re pleased to partner with GlobeCast, a leader in global content delivery services, to elevate the kids’ entertainment viewing experience to a whole new level.”
In joining GlobeCast’s capacity on MEASAT-3, Cartoon Network HD now is part of a well-established HDTV broadcast neighborhood alongside channels such as History HD, Discovery HD, Food Network HD, Fashion One HD, and many more, reaching all key HD pay-TV platforms in Southeast Asia.
