Mail & Guardian reports that Mafika Sihlali, former head of legal services of the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC), has been arrested by the Hawks for allegedly defrauding the broadcaster of millions.
The allegations include claims made by an SABC internal draft audit dating back to nearly five years ago that Sihlali allegedly irregularly outsourced work to law films that were his friends, who in some cases were allegedly double-charged for their work.
The Hawks further allege that he received kickbacks worth R2.5m.
