According to Business Day the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) has refused permission for TopTV to broadcast three adult content channels.
ICASA will reportedly give reasons for its decision not to allow the broadcast of Playboy Europe, Private Spice and Adult XXX within 30 days.
The regulator previously won an urgent court interdict to stop TopTV from launching the channels, after plans by TopTV to go ahead without the permission of ICASA. The investment arm of trade union Cosatu, Kopano ke Matla Investment Company, earlier this week threatened to pull its 20% stake from from TopTV owner On Digital Media if they went ahead with the porn channels.
