South African cinema chain Ster-Kinekor releases the Bollywood blockbuster, Karan Johar’s Agneepath, on 26 January in Gateway (Durban), The Zone (Johannesburg) and Arcades (Lusaka).
This thrilling tale of revenge and friendship boasts a stellar cast, including Priyanka Chopra (Don 2, Dostana, 7 Khoon Maaf, Anjaana Anjaani), Hritick Roshan (Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Jodhaa Akbar, Krrish), Sanjay Dutt (Desi Boyz, Rascals) and Rishi Kapoor (Patiala House, Love Aaj Kal).
Agneepath (The Path of Fire) is set in Mandwa, a small Indian Village. A young Vijay Dinanath Chauhan (Hrithick Roshan) is taught about the path of fire by his principled and respected father, but his life is utterly shattered when a drug lord, Kancha Cheena (Sanjay Dutt), murders his father. Vijay and his mother are forced to leave Mandwa for Bombay, but he takes an oath that he will one day return and bring back the glory of his father’s name and have his revenge
Once in Bombay, a 12-year-old Vijay finds himself being taken under the wings of the city’s drug lord, Rauf Lala (Rishi Kapoor), starting a fierce journey of revenge where Vijay makes and breaks many relationships, only to get closer to his goal. Troubled and angry, he finds support in his only friend, Kaali (Priyanka Chopra), who stands by him at every moment of his life.
Fifteen years later, his hatred for Kancha takes him back to Mandwa where life comes full circle…
Agneepath features a wonderful selection of songs, including the special guest appearance by Katrina Kaif with Chikni Chemeli.
