The Jupiter Drawing Room (TJDR) in Johannesburg ranked third overall at the prestigious global financial advertising and marketing Midas Awards in December, becoming the only South African advertising agency to have received such recognition.
TJDR (JHB) won two Gold awards, two Silvers and three Midas certificates based on the creative output for their banking client ABSA.
The company has held the ABSA account for 10 years, and believes that the strong creative partnership between the banking giant and the advertising agency has resulted in rich dividends.
Said Alison Deeb, TJDR (Johannesburg) CEO: “We are proud of our team; their efforts led to us nabbing third place in the 2011 Overall Global Rankings Report. We also feel extra proud that the Midas Awards is the only international competition honouring financial advertising and marketing.’
Founded in 2001, the Midas Awards’ panel of judges includes client and agency leaders from the creative and marketing disciplines, as well as internationally-recognised experts in financial policy and communications. These judges offer their perspectives not only on how well a message is delivered, but how it is received.
According to the Midas judging committee: “Financial marketing and advertising is about gaining the rarest kind of consumer trust imaginable, one that may result in a lifelong allegiance. More than anything else, it’s about convincing an uncertain and sceptical customer that, despite all they’ve heard recently about the financial industry, they give you a call, type in your client’s name after the www, because they’re one of the good guys.’
