Disney Channel original movie Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension will be hitting South African television screens in November after achieving record ratings in the US.

The action-packed adventure movie is based on the BAFTA nominated and Emmy Award-winning animated comedy series Phineas and Ferb, and will premiere on Disney XD South Africa on Saturday 5 November at 9am, and screen again on Saturday 12 November at 10:30am.

It promises to be filled with songs, multi-level humour and themes of family, friends and the freedom of summer.

Since its premiere on Disney Channel US on 5 August, Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension has rocketed to become cable TV’s No. 1 movie of 2011 with 7.6 million total viewers and has ranked as cable’s No. 1 animated telecast in more than three years among kids 6-11 and tweens 9-14.

The movie is also the summer’s most-watched Friday telecast in total viewers in the US, beating all broadcast competition head to head among adults 18-49.

The US Disney XD premiere on 13 August became the channel’s No. 1 movie telecast on record in kids 6-11 and boys 6-11, resulting in across-the-board time period highs.

The adventure story begins on a summer afternoon in Danville and sees stepbrothers Phineas and Ferb go on their biggest journey yet – into another dimension!  When the boys discover that their beloved pet platypus Perry is in fact a secret agent who battles the forces of evil daily, they join him on an adventure of a lifetime that blasts them to Alternate-Danville, the eerily familiar dimension resembling their hometown where a truly evil Dr. Doofenshmirtz has successfully managed to reign over the gloomy universe, forbidding all things summer.  When they uncover his ploy to travel back to their dimension to take over the real Danville, the gang along with their alter-egos and underground group called the Resistance, led by Candace2, must band together to stop him and restore order, happiness and summer back in Danville.

The voice cast features singer-actor Vincent Martella (Everybody Hates Chris) as Phineas Flynn and British actor Thomas Brodie-Sangster (Nanny McPhee, Love Actually) as Ferb Fletcher. Ashley Tisdale (Sharpay in High School Musical and Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure) plays the brother’s bossy older sister Candace Flynn. British actor Richard O’Brien (The Rocky Horror Picture Show) plays dad Lawrence Fletcher and Caroline Rhea (Sabrina, the Teenage Witch) stars as mum Linda Flynn-Fletcher.

Mitchel Musso (Pair of Kings) also stars as the voice of Candace’s boyfriend Jeremy, Dee Bradley Baker (American Dad) plays Perry the Platypus, Alyson Stoner (Camp Rock, Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam) as Isabella, creators Jeff “Swampy” Marsh as Major Monogram and Dan Povenmire as the nefarious Dr. Doofenshmirtz.  Doris Roberts (Everybody Loves Raymond) guest stars as Mrs. Thompson, Dr. Doofenshmirtz’s senile neighbor.

The third season of Phineas and Ferb is currently on air on Disney XD.
