Two Africa-themed documentaries will screen on the Fox FX channel available on South African pay-TV operator TopTV, in August.
When the Mountain Meets its Shadow (6 August at 8.30pm) shows how poverty and wealth can be found really close together in Cape Town. This documentary tells the stories of Ashraf, Mne, Zoliswa and Arnold, who, each in their own way, fight for survival in the informal settlements around Cape Town.
The Witches of Gambaga (20 August at 8.30pm) is the extraordinary story of a community of women condemned to live as witches in Northern Ghana. Made over the course of 5 years, this disturbing expose is the product of a collaboration between members of the 100 strong community of ‘witches’ and local women’s movement activists determined to end abusive practices and improve women’s lives in Africa.
