The Sixth Annual PromaxBDA Africa Awards are looking for the best in electronic promotion, marketing and design for the broadcast, broadband and multimedia sectors. PromaxBDA Africa takes place at Johannesburg’s Sandton Convention Centre on 29 October.
Deadline for entries is 19 August. For more information about categories and how to enter visit www.promaxafrica.tv.
Running alongside the awards is the PromaxBDA Conference with the theme, CONNECT 3.0. Never before have electronic marketers had more channels through which to make connections and yet never before has it been harder to connect. Audiences choose when they want to connect and how. They are no longer dancing to the marketer’s tune, in a great reversal; marketers are, in fact dancing to theirs.
The 30-second spot is not dead, it has multiplied! In sessions from some of the global leaders in the field, as well as some surprising sessions from those adjacent to the electronic marketing sector, the PromaxBDA Conference will explore how to maximise the connections we make across the three screens we now have to explore to remain current and beyond.
Among the high profile speakers is Mateus de Paula Santos, the award-winning founder and creative director of Brazilian-based design and animation studio Lobo. De Paula Santos will present a session entitled: Designing in Brazil, for Brazil and the World. He will give those guilty of falling into a ‘house style’ when it comes to design or promos a good dose of creative diversity.
South Africa’s Bron Dean, creative director of Orijin, is a regular speaker at PromaxBDA Africa and will present a session called Around the World in 60 Minutes. “This is a one-hour tour of our world, through the eyes and minds of our peers from across the globe. Through watching this you will discover how similar our ideas and how different our executions are,” says Dean.
Director of Tobias Entertainment Group, Marice Tobias, who has clients ranging from The Tonight Show to Dr. Phil, to DISCOVERY NETWORKS, BBC and VH1, among many others, will present a session called Directing Talent.
This session is based on Tobias’ standing-room only presentations at New York, London and Los Angeles’ PromaxBDA conferences. It is a fast-paced hands-on session that opens with an overview of the prevailing global influences that impact how we communicate our messages now. It will then drill down, with the help of volunteers, to demonstrate how to direct talent to give deliveries that not only cut through the clutter but also capture the attention and imagination of the audience and turn your shows, channels and networks into destination programming.
