After calls from broadcasters, independent producers and technology companies all over the world, AIB is extending the closing date for the 2011 AIBs – the international media excellence awards. Entries now close on Friday, 15 July at 16h00 GMT.
This is the seventh year of the AIBs, designed to celebrate the very best factual TV, radio and cross-media programming in any language.
New categories this year include: Best coverage of a live sports event; Best science programme; and Best business programme or coverage.
The AIBs also reward innovative technology projects and creative marketing campaigns and search out the best on-air talent in its personality of the year awards (one for TV and one for radio).
For the second year running there is a People’s Choice award that will be voted on by members of the public around the world via social networking sites. This year’s People’s Choice will reward the best coverage of pro-democracy uprisings in North Africa and the Middle East.
